New Theatre Streams To Watch Online This Week

It's another week in this strange new world. Car showrooms may now be allowed to open (thank God) but not much else is. So how are you going to fill these 1,440 minutes (the lesser known song from RENT). Here is a round up of all the new shows that are being added to the online collections this week:


WHAT?

Sitting down to watch the weekly stream as part of The Shows Must Go On has become a bit of a routine for musical theatre fans every Friday at 7pm. Following last weeks brilliant live version of Hairspray, this weeks title has been announced, and it's not The Wiz as was rumoured. Instead, this weeks title is the 2014 live version of Peter Pan starring Allison Williams as Peter Pan, Christopher Walken as Captain Hook. The filming also stars Minnie Driver, Kelli O Hara and regular star of these titles, Christian Borle.

It will be available for 48 hours from Friday at 7pm

WHAT?

The 2015 West end revival of the Stephen Sondheim classic starring Imelda Staunton that was a sold out sensation when it played the Savoy theatre.

WHEN?

Available right now.

WHERE?

This show was already widely available having been filmed and released on DVD, but as of today the title is now also available on BroadwayHD.com


WHAT?

The first in a series of shows The Old Vic will be putting online, this play is an adaptation of the Patrick Ness novel A Monster Calls, and was also a hit movie. Filmed on stage in 2018, this is a stunning piece of theatre that blew me away when I saw it on stage. Expect to be moved to tears from it.

WHEN?

Available from Friday 5th June at 7pm for one week only.

WHERE?


WHAT?

This weeks National Theatre Live title is this production of Shakespeares Coriolanus, starring Tom Hiddleston and filmed at the Donmar Warehouse in 2013.

WHEN?

Available from Thursday for 7pm for one week only. Before then, the James Graham play This House is still available.

WHERE?


WHAT?

This musical about Ian Dury and the Blockheads and featuring classic songs like 'Hit me with your rhythm stick' was filmed in 2017.

WHEN?

Available from Wednesday 3rd June for two months.

WHERE?


WHAT?

Filmed in 2018, this semi staged concert of Leonard Bernstein's Candide stars Rob Houchen and Katie Hall.

WHEN?

Available from 6pm Friday 5th June

WHERE?


WHAT?

Kelli O'Hara appears in two streaming shows premiering this Friday as she is also in this recent Lincoln center production of the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic, also starring Broadway legend Jessie Mueller.

WHEN?

Available Friday 5th June at 8pm ET which is 1am in the UK

WHERE?


WHAT?

Filmed on Broadway several years ago, this musical tells the story of the Newsboys strike, stars the brilliant Jeremy Jordan and features one of the best musical theatre songs in the form of 'Santa Fe'

WHEN?

Available on Disney+ already, this is being shown on television in the UK on Thursday 4th June at 1pm

BBC2. Set your planners!


WHAT?

The third in a series of concerts presented by The Barn Theatre, this one celebrates the music of Elliot Davis and features an all star cast including Jamie Muscato, Lucie Jones, Luke Bayer, Aimie Atkinson, Aaron Lee Lambert, Aaron Sidwell and his Loserville collaborator, Busted's James Bourne.

WHEN?

Watch it on Saturday 6th June at 7.30pm
