March Preview: 95 Shows To Stream This Month

February has come and gone in a flash, bringing with it a lot of fantastic theatre to watch online. Now we finally have a date when theatres can re-open and sadly we still have a while to wait. While theatres won't re-open during March, the wealth of online content isn't slowing down with some stellar titles to get us through the next few weeks.


Here's what you can feast on throughout March in my biggest monthly preview yet:


Monday 1st - Wednesday 31st March: EMILIA

Monday 1st March: GWLAD!

Monday 1st March: RISE:UP

Monday 1st March: THE FUTURE OF MUSICAL THEATRE

Monday 1st March: ONE HAND TIED BEHIND US

Originally staged in 2018 to mark 100 years since the Representation of the People Act gave the first women in Britain the right to vote, this series of monologues explores key moments in the history of women’s rights in the UK.


Tuesday 2nd - Saturday 6th March: 25 YEARS OF RENT: MEASURED IN LOVE

A virtual gala to celebrate 25 years since RENT first premiered. It premieres at 8pm EST and will remain available to stream until the 6th. Original cast members including Idina Menzel, Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp will join Lin Manuel Miranda, Eva Noblezada, Ben Platt, Billy Porter and more. Tickets available here.


Wednesday 3rd March: EVENING STANDARD FUTURE THEATRE FUND

Join the virtual awards ceremony in association with TikTok at 7pm. 12 recipients will each be awarded a share of £120,000 prize fund to support emerging talent in British Theatre. Wednesday 3rd - Tuesday 9th March: HYMN

Wednesday 3rd March: FACING THE MUSIC: IMELDA STAUNTON

Thursday 4th - Saturday 6th March: CHRISTINA BIANCO

After a one-night-only livestream, the internationally acclaimed singer, actor and impressionist brings her 'Me, Myself and Everyone Else' show available to view on demand for a limited time. Thursday 4th March - Sunday 23rd May: LOVE IN THE LOCKDOWN

Friday 5th March: GIRL ON AN ALTAR

This newly commisssioned work by Marina Carr is a re-telling of the ancient myth of Clytemnestra and Agamemnon. It will have a staged rehearsed reading streamed live at 7pm via www.KilnTheatre.com


Friday 5th March: CINDERELLA

People have been clamouring for Rodgers & Hammerstein's CInderella to make its way online and today is their lucky day as the 1997 musical starring Brandy and Whitney Houston finally makes its way to Disney+ from today.


Friday 5th - Sunday 7th March: WEST END MUSICAL DRIVE IN

The third of five concerts filmed last year. This installment is a Wicked special and features performances from Alice Fearn, Laura Pick, Emma Hatton, Sophie Evans and Shanay Holmes. Tickets at https://www.stream.theatre/season/43


Friday 5th - Sunday 7th March: COLLABRO

Friday 5th - Saturday 6th March: BROTHER

Saturday 6th - 27th March: IRISH YOUTH MUSICAL THEATRE

Sunday 7th & Monday 8th March: EVA NOBLEZADA

Make a date in your diaries every Sunday night as Seth Rudetsky continues his series bringing us the best Broadway stars to our homes. Monday 8th - Sunday 14th March: DADDY LONG LEGS

Monday 8th March: PUTTING A FACE ON

Two new monologues comissioned by The Old Vic to mark International Women's Day will debut online. Aisha traces the history of Black Women's Political Power in the US while Putting A Face On is about domestic abuse in women's daily lives. Wednesday 10th March: FACING THE MUSIC: GILES TERERA

Hamilton star Giles Terera joins writer and broadcaster Edward Seckerson to discuss his life in musical theatre. Tickets from cft.org.uk


Friday 12th - Sunday 14th March: TREASON

This new musical about the Gunpowder Plot will be filmed at the Cadogan Hall with an all star cast leading a concert production. Lucie Jones, Bradley Jaden, Cedric Neal, Oliver Tompsett and Sharon Rose are among those taking part. Tickets available from https://treasonthemusical.com/


Friday 12th - Sunday 14th March: THE MUSICIAN: A HORROR OPERA FOR CHILDREN

Friday 12th - Sunday 14th March: A LOVE LETTER TO LIZA

Friday 12th - Saturday 20th March: DREAM

The Royal Shakespeare Company are staging a live online performance based on A Midsummer Night's Dream. Usig the latest technology, it will be performed with seven actors in a specially created motion capture space. Tickets at rsc.org.uk


Friday 12th - Sunday 14th March: WEST END MUSICAL DRIVE IN

The fourth in the series of Drive In concerts to be streamed. This installment boasts an Aladdin reunion with performances from Trevor Dion Nicholas, Matthew Croke, Hiba Elchikhe and Shanay Holmes. Tickets at https://www.stream.theatre/season/43


Sunday 14th March: WHAT'S ON STAGE AWARDS

Sunday 14th March: LISTEN WITH MOTHER
