Mamma Mia! To Re-Open In The West End In June 2021

It's been a tough 24 hours in the world of theatre with some devastating news, giving us all yet another knock after a hopeful couple of weeks. We're not out of the woods yet but there is reason to be cheerful for the future as another major show has announced details of it's re-opening.

It will have been fifteen months since the cast of Mamma Mia! put on their heels to perform on stage but get ready cos here we go again! The long-running feel good musical is set to re-open on Monday 7th June 2021.

The show is set to return to its home of the Novello Theatre two days after The Phantom of the Opera re-opens Her Majesty's Theatre and is the first of Delfont Mackintosh Theatres to announce a re-opening date for a full production.

It seems clear with these two announcements that producers are expecting June 2021 to be the target date where social distancing is no longer an issue and theatres can open to full capacity. Perhaps we can expect announcements for other Delfont Mackintosh shows including Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen and Mary Poppins.

Obviously there is a chance this opening date may get pushed back depending on what is happening at the time, but after a difficult year, it's nice to see some light at the end of the tunnel and a new target date of when, hopefully, most of the major West End theatres can open their doors again.

The current booking period for Mamma Mia is until 2nd October 2021, but 22 years after first opening, expect this to be extended again. Also set to re-open is Mamma Mia - The Party at the o2 from 1st October 2021.

Mamma Mia may not be to everybody's taste but after the year we have all had, a show like this will have no problem putting a smile on all of our faces.

Tickets are on sale now for DMT+ members and should be on sale to everybody else in the next day or so from delfontmackintosh.co.uk
